This Privacy Notice is designed to provide you with information regarding information collection and use in connection with the websites, apps, products, and other services (collectively, the “Services”) offered or operated by Mysteries Inc. (“Mysteries”, “we” or “us”). We collect information in order to provide and improve the Services. This Privacy Notice explains how we use the information collected through the Services but does not apply to databases or third parties that we do not control.

INFORMATION WE COLLECT

We collect information such as:

(a) Contact and demographic data. We may collect your first and last name, email address, postal address, phone number, and other similar contact data. We also may collect data about you such as your age, interests, and other details about you. Some of the information you choose to provide us may be considered “special” or “sensitive” in certain jurisdictions; by choosing to provide this information, you agree to our processing of that information for the purposes for which you provide it.

(b) Account credentials. We collect login codes and similar security information used for authentication and account access.

(c) Usage data. We collect data about how you use our Services. This includes but is not limited to data such as the pages you visit, the links you hover over and click on, and the Services you purchase. We may also collect data about your device such as IP address, device identifiers, and data about the network, operating system, or software you use to connect to our Services.

(d) Location data. We may collect location data, such as GPS coordinates, or location data derived from your IP address.

(e) Other information you provide. You may also provide information to us if you participate in surveys, promotions or events, give feedback on our Services, provide testimonials, or contact our customer support team.

When you are asked to provide information, you may decline. But if you choose not to provide information that is necessary to provide Services to you, you may not be able to use the Services.

HOW WE COLLECT INFORMATION

The information we collect depends on the Services that you use. You provide some information directly, such as when you create an account, submit a search query, or contact us for support. Our servers collect information known as “log data,” that includes your IP address, the time your computer or device visited our Services, the URL of the website you arrived from, and the type of device or browser you used to access the Services. We also get information by recording how you use our Services and whether you navigate between our Services. For example, we use cookies (small text files placed on your device) and may receive usage data from software running on your device.

HOW WE USE THE INFORMATION WE COLLECT

We use information we collect to provide useful Services and customer support to our users, and for other administrative, identity verification, fraud detection and legal purposes. For example, we use information we collect to:

  • administer your account and provide the Services to you;
  • communicate with you about our Services and your account;
  • ensure a consistent experience across your devices;
  • serve you relevant offers and ads about our Services, including via email (provided that we provide mechanisms for you to opt-out of receiving promotional emails from us);
  • improve the Services and develop new ones;
  • prevent, detect, and fight fraud and other illegal or unauthorized activities;
  • ensure legal compliance, including assisting law enforcement and enforcing or exercising our rights.

HOW WE SHARE INFORMATION WE COLLECT

We share your information as necessary to complete any transaction or provide the Services you have requested or authorized. For example, we may share your information:

  • with entities that process payment transactions, and for fraud prevention and credit risk reduction when you provide payment data to make a purchase;
  • with third-party service providers and partners who help us operate and provide the Services;
  • if we are involved, whether in whole or in part, in a merger, sale, acquisition, divestiture, restructuring, reorganization, dissolution, bankruptcy or other change of ownership or control;
  • when required by law, such as to comply with legal process (e.g., court order, subpoena, search warrant, or similar legal process), protect our legal rights and legal rights of our users, business partners or other interested parties, assist in the prevention or detection of unlawful activity (subject to applicable law), or protect the safety of any person;
  • to enforce our legal rights, including if disclosure would mitigate our liability in an actual or threatened lawsuit, as necessary to protect our legal rights and those of our users, business partners or other interested parties, to enforce our agreements with you, and to investigate, prevent, or take other action regarding illegal activity, suspected fraud or other wrongdoing;
  • with other third parties with your consent and in accordance with your user settings or authorizations.

Under certain circumstances, applicable law may prohibit or require us to provide you with additional notice regarding sharing of information. We may, unless legally required to provide you notice, disclose information in response to a subpoena or other legal process without giving you notice.

We may use and share non-personal information (e.g., information that, by itself, does not identify who you are such as device information, general demographics, general behavioral data, geolocation in de-identified form), as well as personal information in hashed, non-human readable form, under any of the above circumstances. We may also share this information with third parties to develop and deliver targeted advertising on our Services and on websites or applications of third parties, and to analyze and report on advertising you see. We may combine this information with additional non-personal information or personal information in hashed, non-human readable form collected from other sources.

INFORMATION COLLECTED BY THIRD PARTIES

We use third-party service providers and partners to help us operate and provide the Services and in doing so, such third parties may collect information necessary for that assistance. Collection and use of the information in those circumstances is subject to the privacy policies of the third party companies with whom we work.

If you make a purchase, Stripe collects data necessary to process your payment, such as your name, credit card number, and security code. You may opt out of Google Analytics by visiting the Google Ads Preference Manager or the Google Analytics opt-out tool.

Some features of our Services may provide you with the option to share information with specific third parties, such as social media services. Such third party collection of information will be in accordance with the options you select and subject to the privacy policies of the third party companies you authorize to collect information.
